Movement over the weekend for the mobile website designer, with long time AAS friend Russ Beattie's Mowser updating the Wordpress plug-in to sit alongside a newly announced domain mapping tool . If you're running any site (not just a wordpress blog), it's now a simple process to have an automatic mobile version created, and have a convenient URL pointing to it.
UIQ Technology recently held a Developer Fast Track Event in Budapest. Some of the presentations from that event are now available for download from the UIQ website. Presentations range from an introduction to UIQ and its developer program to expert tips and tricks from EMCC.

Congratulations to RealNetworks (Playman Extreme Running) in the games category, BitCycle (Pull Face Image Manipulator) in the Imaging category, Opera (Opera Mini 4.0) in the productivity category, Gracenote (TrackID) in the music category and Clavitones (Geeks themes and graphics) in the graphics category.
Symbian has announced the improved version of Symbian Signed, which was revealed at the Smartphone Show, has now launched. Symbian Signed now comes in three flavours: Open Signed (for developer testing), Express Signed (instant online signing for $20) and Certified Signed (broadly similar to the previous iteration). Express Signed significantly lowers the cost of signing for most application developers and should result in more applications being made available.
Forum Nokia, under its Creative Pro brand, are running a series of webinars over the next few days focusing on Flash Lite (first on content and services, second on video capabilities) and Mobile Advertising. This is an area I expect to see a lot of growth in during 2008 and if you are a developer looking for an introduction to these topics the webinars are a good place to start.
Nokia recently released a press release about a report it had comissioned, 'A Glimpse of the Next Episode' which talked about the future of entertainment. The main trend identified was the coming of 'Circular Entertainment' (content created, edited and shared within a peer community rather than traditional media sources). Adobe has finally made its Flash Lite 3 beta available for S60 3rd Edition, although both it (and I) stress that this is intended to be for developers only and isn't a consumer-focussed browser-integrated player. Comments welcome below on what Flash Lite 3 can and can't do in its current state (e.g. playing multimedia content). (via SymbianOne)

Calling all Flash Lite programmers- to promote the upcoming launch of the Playyoo Games Portal, they are offering a prize fund of $25,000 (with $10,000 to the winner) for your Flash Lite games. Playyoo is hoping to be a community destination for players and programmers of mobile games, and rather obviously given the competition based around using Flash Lite.
It has been informallyannounced that a PHP and MySQL implementation is going to be added to Nokia's Web Server software Raccoon. PHP is an open source scripting language usually used to create dynamic web pages. There will also a number of PHP extension modules that provide access to the core functionality of the phone. Red Five Labs has just announced that their Net60 product, which enables .NET applications from the Windows world to run unchanged under S60, is now available for beta testing. By the way, if you don't know what a .NET application is then you don't need the product!
Symbian today announced its latest set of figures. In Q3 2007 20.4 million Symbian OS handsets were shipped representing 56% year on year growth (13 million in Q3 2006). The total number of Symbian OS handset shipped has now reached 165 million. The average royalty per handset is now $4.80 (down from $5.20 last year following license fee reductions).
