Ah, the bizarre twists in the story of the Nokia N93i. Our proto didn't have it. The next pre-production example did, and now, according to N93i tester Stefan, production devices err.. won't have it. I agree with Stefan, at least make it a menu option guys. Nokia, can we have some definitive inside info on this please?
Rafe Blandford looks in detail at the Nokia E90 Communicator. A legend reborn? It's undoubtedly feature packed and technically impressive - but is there still a market for the qwerty clamshell form factor? Rafe and Steve include plenty of hands-on observations, photos and screenshots of this, Nokia's upcoming flagship.
As with the E90 yesterday, we have access to an pre-release hardware version of the Nokia E61i (announced recently at 3GSM). What do you want to know about it? Let's have your questions and see if we can calm your fears and pique your interest. Pop them in the comments and we'll get around to them through the rest of today!
Seeing as I have, for a short time, the Nokia N93, the N95 (production hardware, non-final firmware) and the E90 Communicator (prototype hardware, quite early firmware) all in one spot, I thought a comparison of VGA video recording was in order. Read on...
Ahem. AllAboutSymbian now has a pre-production E90 and we're keen to answer questions. Fire away in the comments and we'll both answer them below and also build them into a proper FAQ feature in a few days time. On your marks, get set, go! [updated]
Now that I've been able to test a production Nokia N93i, along with the continuous focus video I reported on last week, I thought it appropriate to both update the AllAboutSymbian review and also summarise the relative advantages of each device. Read on for text and video.
One of THE major launches of the last couple of weeks was Smart2go. The best intro to Nokia's mapping and routing software by far is Ed's write up of the free service at E-series.org. In the meantime, I've clocked up 300 miles driving with the premium voice-guided upgrade and will be doing a proper review and TomTom comparison as soon as Smart2go comes out of beta.
S60 and Vodafone last week announced the release of the first Vodafone specific software package for S60 to all S60 licensees. The customised version includes Vodafone specific applications, services and branding. The first two handsets that will receive this software are the Nokia N95 and the Samsung SGH-i520. S60 and Vodafone first announced their collaboration a year ago at 3GSM in 2006.
Announced over in our forums was that emoze, the popular (for those on flat rate data plans) push email/contacts/calendar system, has just been upgraded to work on S60 3rd Edition devices like the Nokia E61 and N73.
Krisse reviews this top flight S60 game and finds beautifully rendered scenes, great music, a good plot and a unique interface. Will anything spoil the idyll?
Remembering Michael Mace's excellent generic positioning (in the handheld industry) diagram from last year, I wondered where the current and upcoming crop of Symbian OS-powered hardware might sit in his Entertainment/Communications/Information chart. Comments are welcome as always.
