I remember when I was a kid, my dad was well into his stuff; he had a reel-to-reel tape recorder, he enjoyed playing with my Commodore 16 as much as I did and was the first to be able to program our first ever family VCR.
In this typically vague Symbian press release it announces that Mobility Electronics becomes the first office software company to join Symbian Affiliate Partner Program. They already have readers for Word and Powerpoint for series 60. Hopefully this release means it will be the full Quickoffice suite with editing, as it quotes "With the 2003 launch of Quickoffice for Symbian OS, Mobility Electronics continues to define the benchmark for mobile office suites, adding significant value to professionals on the move with their Symbian OS-based phones". RotoView by Innoventions Inc has already begun shipping its tilt-screen development system for RotoView-enabled devices. This allows the user to navigate simply by tilting the machine.

Who said OPL was a dead language? This press release from Syscan International shows OPL being used in a new custom application for Bell Canada Mobile Communications.
NTK (Need to Know) have woken up to OPL. Previously, they asked for info on any IDE's for Smartphones. So the AAS Crew swung into action to remind them OPL was Alive and Kicking (tm). And what did they think? We'd hoped to scare off the Symbianites by unfairly disparaging their newly open-sourced OPL, but unfortunately we misspelt it as "OML", so they got a look in. 1 million Symbian OS phones were shipped in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa) far outstripping its nearest competitor according to this canalys report.

According to this Symbian press release Fujitsu have released their latest Symbian mobile videophone, the F2102V for NTT DoCoMo, Inc.'s FOMA 3G service. Its an improvement on their earlier model the F2051 and has better battery life and video facilities. It sounds great, its just a shame that its only available in Japan. According to this Digitimes article it is rumoured that the Taiwanese handset maker Quanta is to produce a Symbain smartphone. As usual with these rumours no more details are available and Quanta is making no comments. If they do produce one its possible that it could be for a different manufacturer as they currently produce devices for Siemens and Panasonic Mobile Communications.
