Tomorrow sees the opening day of the PMN Mobile User Experience Conference. Orange have announced the date of the next in the series of their popular Code Camps. The Code Camp will take place in Opio (near Nice) in France from 17th - 19th October. It is a chance for developers to have face to face contact with both Orange and the sponosring companies such as Symbian, Sony Ericsson and UIQ. The camp lasts for 72 hours, with 24 hour food on offer and there is an opening Pow-Wow and over 70 sessions (both technical and commercial).
Symbian released it's quarterly summary of device numbers and operation figures for Q2 2005. 7.8 million devices were sold in the last 3 months to June 2005, and more Symbian devices were sold in the first half of the year than the whole of 2004. There are 54 different phones shipping worldwide and 50 Symbian OS phone models are under development by 11 licensees.

With interesting timing, given my editorial (above), Nokia has launched a new, free mobile search tool, as detailed here, in the 6630/6680 forum. The new tool aims to simplify searching on a mobile device by providing it as an application service. Search functions include web and images (via Yahoo) and it also includes 'local search' functionality in select countries (Yell in the UK).
