The Register ran the story this morning, in which details explain that the trojan pretends to be a cracked copy of FSCaller by SymbianWare, on installation the payload is to run some copies of Cabir variants and to disable some of your applications. Series 60 version 3 was recently announced, and Ewan's been having some thoughts on this one. Yes it's the promised 'mass market' Series 60 platform, but what does it do and how will it affect the end user, the developer and the networks? Heres his views on S60 v3.
Sydus and Virgin Radio have launched a 3G Radio Player. It allows you to stream, over the air, three Radio Stations from the Virgin network: Virgin Radio, Virgin Radio Classic Rock and Virgin Radio Groove. The software is a free download and is available for both Series 60 and UIQ. Although touted as a 3G Radio PLayer, it should be possible to get a working connection over GPRS.
BlitzCheck from Wombat Mobile allows you too look up trivial information form the web more easily. It is a J2ME midlet which queries a search engine based on a query you enter. It is aimed at retrieving trivial data (such as who sung certain lyrics). Should be good for those late night pub quizzes, and is a good example of how to implement a useful mobile service. The author also has an interesting blog where you can see recent developments (such as the use of the Yahoo Search API) and there is also an interesting concept traffic / map J2ME midlet.

Well, it looks like the Nokia 6682 will be coming soon to the United States. Good news for Cingular and in some areas Suncom. With its dual-band 850-1800-1900 mhz I'm sure alot of US customers will grab this ASAP. Several rumors have floated in regards to bluetooth, memory and such so you can check the specs which can also be found on Nokia's website. More on the new Symbian OS phones at 3GSM from Rafe. Today he's talking about Samsung's third Series 60 based phone, the Samsung D720. Looking like a 7650 on steroids, the general conclusion is that if this phone can get to the market, it could do very well.

Another applciation announced at 3GSM was RealEyes3D Digitizer3. This captures a picture of a document with enough processed clarity that the image can be sent via MMS or Email. More details on the RealEyes website.
AAS Contributor and Python Advocate Jim Hughes has thrown together London Traffic Camera, a Series 60 Python applciation that will download images of the various BBC traffic cameras direct to your Python powered handest. Is it a finished app? No, but as a proof of concept, and a working tool, it does the business. And that's what promgramming should be all about.

Panasonic are showing off the X800 at 3GSM. The X800 has similar functionality to the X700 but the design has been tweaked. The phone is now just 17.2 mm slim. It is aimed at thie business market (the inclusion of the Quickoffice Premier suite is emphasised. We'll bring you more information in the next few days.
Lenovo have announced their first Series 60 phone the P930. Its a dual band GSM flip phone with a 1.3 megapixel camera and GPS functionality. Connectivity is via IR, Bluetooth and mini USB. It includes a MP3 player and support for MMC and SD cards. The most innovative feature in a pen-input feature to allow for Chinese character input (in addition to standard keypad). The phone is aimed at the Chinese market.
