Introducing Ovi Gaming's Ovi Store Games section...

Published by Tzer2 at 10:46 UTC, June 1st 2009

If you click on the Ovi Gaming site's menu bar item labelled Ovi Store Games, you'll see it now contains pages and brief info about all of the games currently in Ovi Store, along with reviews and screenshots for a few of them. Over time we'll be adding a lot more reviews, screenshots and perhaps even some videos too, slowly building up a comprehensive guide to Ovi's gaming world.

Some people might say that this isn't needed because Ovi Store already contains descriptions, reviews and screenshots, but the trouble is that the descriptions are usually inadequate, reviews are usually too short and screenshots are either missing or too small. We're going to try and address all of these problems by offering a better alternative.

We've also got a much more detailed category system for Ovi Store games, dividing it up into the following genres: Freeware, Arcade, Adventure, Card & Board, Fighting, Miscellaneous, Online Multiplayer, Platform, Puzzle, Racing, RPG, Shooter, Simulation, Sports, Strategy.

Ovi Gaming's category system also works in a superior way to the Ovi Store site's, because we allow games to be present in multiple categories which makes it easier to find titles that straddle many genres (for example TibiaME is both an RPG and an online multiplayer game).

Note that for technical reasons not every game is available on every phone, and games may look different on different phone models.

hey tzer2, are you going to say if the game is java or s60v3 or s60v5 too? i would appreciate that =D if you put on title, or a categories too, i would love! like... s60, online multiplayer, rpg = tibia me!!
Tzer2
Powerbacon, I'm not sure what we will do about the platform labels as different phone models may get different versions of a game.

We'll have to see what happens over time.

Obviously as this is a sister site of All About Symbian we'll be using S60 devices for reviews, so we'll use S60 versions wherever possible, but it may be that many games are Java-only because there are a lot more people with non-smart phones than smart phones.

We'll try to say which platform the game is on on our phones, that's probably the best we can do. It may be on other platforms for other models though.
