Flixwagon Offering Integration into Ovi Share Service

Published by at

Nokia's "Share on Ovi" service has announced that the popular live video streaming service Flixwagon will be available on handsets. By linking your Ovi account to your Flixwagon account, whenever you finish a broadcast on your handset via Flixwagon, it will upload the completed video to your Ovi account (as well as your Flixwagon account), giving an immediate benefit of having your archive of live videos alongside the rest of your Ovi hosted media.

Existing users (and, naturally, new users as well) will need to download the latest client to make best use of this new service - just point your mobile browser to http://m.flixwagon.com/nokia/ and follow the installation instructions. One of the benefits of this partnership is that you, as a user, do not have to do anything different to the normal Flixwagon operation, beyond toggling 'Upload to Ovi' either on the handset or on the Flixwagon website.

This of course assumes that you are one of the small group of people that are looking to do 'live video from your handset.' For those of you that are interested, it's worth looking back on this All About Symbian article looking at live video streaming services for S60. One of the points that I raised then is that these services need to find differentiators to try and build their audience compared to the other services.

Flixwagon could capture a lot of S60 handset users here, assuming that Nokia do some promotion on their behalf. This isn't a built into the handset deal, but it is a step forward for Flixwagon, and the principle of these services as a whole.
