Review: Quickoffice (next-gen) v4 on UIQ 3

Asri's been trialling the new version 4 of Quickoffice for UIQ 3 on his Sony Ericsson P1i for several weeks now and here's his detailed review. Most UIQ smartphones have version 3 of Quickoffice built-in, but Asri explains that v4 is a complete rewrite with radically improved functionality and usability.

This is indeed a beautiful application. Salute to the developers for doing it for UIQ 3 users. I can now work with my files seamlessly without worrying the formatting being destroyed ;-)

I think I would like to add that the application replaces the built-in office where it change the icon, and the old office disappears. Where does it go? I dont know but it replaces the icon. No dramas!!!

QuickOffice 4 for UIQ3 is a waste of money. It's much slower than version 3, and it doesn't even use automatic upper case in the beginning of sentences (even though this is possible in every other program on the phone..), so you have to press shift for every sentence that you write. This is even more annoying with the added lag, because you can't see what you type until about a second after. So if you mistype, you won't notice right away.
I'm actually thinking of reverting back to version 3.
I haven't tried quicksheet or quickpoint, but they are probably just as slow compared to 3.0.
Sure, version 4 has new features, but it doesn't matter when the program is too slow to even accept text input at a decent speed!

As above this shit is slower than the inbuilt version. It wastes your phone memory. The above long review is just a biased piece of shit. I am sorry for my harsh language. 100% of people who use it to open 1MB doc files are pissed off by QuickOffice (and are using DocumentsToGo) because it always crash the phone. My warning is don't update your old version with this shit. I would really like to uninstall QuickOffice from my phone because it is practically useless.

I suspect that the slowness of version 4 may be due to the memory limitations of the P990i, M600 and W950 included. P1i and newer should be ok.

i am using p1i and upgrade it in D drive, i donno how to uninstall it actually.

Very bad program, memory and money destroyer! Ad it's uninstallable!

First time i know the new version of QuickOffice v4, i thing this software maybe powerful than QuickOffice v3. After i install this software to my phone on drive D, i'm very very dissapointed about this version. I have lot of bug and very slowly than QuickOffice v3. So i uninstalling this software exactly.

For user have installed QuickOffice v4 and want to uninstall it, just follow this step (I try to my p990 and i install QuickOffice v4 on drive D before):

1. Unlock security acces with Capsswitch
2. Open Explore or SMP, make a new folder with name "BACKUP" in your memory card to backup this software
3. Open D:\Private\10003a3f\Import\Apps
4. Move this file to BACKUP folder:
QO_fileManager_reg.RSC
Quickmanager_reg.RSC
Quicksheet_reg.RSC
Quickword_reg.RSC
5. Open D:\Resource\App
6. Move this file to BACKUP folder:
QO_FileManager.mbm
QO_FileManager2.rsc
