Love is in the air!
Published by Steve Litchfield at 7:46 UTC, February 14th 2008
Ah yes, Valentines Day across the world and Krisse, a true romantic, has been researching the very best free 'love' themes for your S60 3rd Edition smartphone. If these don't get you in the mood for romance then nothing will!
"If you search for the word "love" on any theme web site you will be
flooded with results (you don't say! - Ed). We didn't have the time or
the space to cover them all, so we've tried to pick the most tasteful
and practical of these themes. Most of the themes we tried didn't make
it into the article as they didn't work properly for some reason, such
as using the wrong colour font or having an expired certificate."

Who is this 'Ed' you keep referring to in your articles?
krisse
Malerocks, it's a common thing in British newspapers to have comments inserted into an article by the editor, or "ed". As in this case, it's normally only done to add a bit of humour.

I tried two of them and they both looked kind of crap on my e90's internal screen. Do any of them work on e90?
Max.
krisse
Davidmaxwaterma, I don't know, I don't have an E90 so I couldn't test them. The problem is the E90's internal screen isn't even close to being a standard size, so very few themes are designed with its resolution in mind.
The vast majority of S60 3rd Edition themes are designed for vertical/portrait QVGA screens, which is what I tested these themes on (as you can see from the screenshots I took).

Themes built around SVG (i.e. vector graphics) will scale brilliantly to any screen. I suspect these specialist love themes were built around QVGA bitmaps.... 8-)
Don't worry, I've got a separate E90 theme piece coming up soon for you to enjoy!

Indeed. I realise all that, and it's hardly an excuse, IMO...however understandable it is.
Fair enough, I guess :|

Sounds good :)
Having played a little more, I see that most of the icons etc work ok, I think. It's really the backgrounds that are stretched and don't look too good.
Look forward to the E90-specific piece :)
Thanks!
Max.

Bear in mind these themes aren't made by Nokia employees or other professionals, they're mostly just amateurs giving stuff away for free as a bit of fun.
We can't complain too much about the quality because we haven't really paid for it in any way.

I disagree (somewhat). Some of them get revenue from visits or give the opportunity to donate. Complaining is a good way of telling them why they're not making any money and how they might do better. I know this from my own product :)
...but you said, 'too much' so I guess we agree :)

Very nice - thanks for finding these themes :) The first and the third both look very nice on the N82.

@davidmaxwaterma - Sorry mate but your wrong, they are uploaded for FREE and were created using
Mobile9's Online Theme Creator by members (excluding Babinokia's Theme). No revenue, advertising is gained from these. So I think we should be just happy we have some themes for Valentines.
Also pointing out, these were all made using JPG / PNG / BMP and not SVG, we haven't implemented SVG support yet.
If you want a few more "pro" looking themes made using Nokia's Theme Maker I have created a post with a few quality collection. Although these take longer and require some skill in graphics to achieve.
Post can be found

What is my wrong when it's at home? :p
I was referring specifically to the 'If you like my Themes, please consider donating' image on the first theme
'Forever Lies', not to mention all the 'Ads by Google' down the right hand side of the page.
But, whatever...

That is the one I was referring to when I said Except, Babinokia's theme is the exception here.
Confusion in communication.
