AAS podcast 35 - cheaper international roaming?

Published by Steve Litchfield at 6:35 BST, September 20th 2007

Want to save up to 80% on the cost of international roaming? That's Cubic Telecom's promise with the MaxRoam Sim. Ewan's over in the USA on a two week trip, but he bumped into Cubic CEO Pat Phelan at the TechCrunch40 event to find out more about the product. Here's the audio podcast (no. 35).

"TechCrunch40 is an event  for start-ups to present new ideas and products to the world. One of the mobile companies there was the Irish based Cubic Telecom, and their 'MaxRoam' sim. Geared towards international travellers, it promises to cut the cost of mobile roaming by up to 80%, with calls from 1 to 15 (US) cents a minute... so about 7p. I sat down with CEO Pat Phelan to find out more about how it works. "

And here's the RSS feed, if you want to make sure you don't miss future audio podcasts.

I don't do much travelling myself but I really do wish these guys lots of success.

Looked at their web site - they have lots of advertising, nothing about who they are, and all the links to prices are empty.

I would check out the company well before giving them any credit card details, at present the web site looks more like a scam - but - I may just be too early.
