Sony Ericsson P1 Prototype Previews Ahoy!

Published by krisse at 10:03 UTC, May 30th 2007

Two previews of the Sony Ericsson P1 based on the prototypes have appeared on the internet, on my-symbian.com and on mobile-review.com. Bear in mind the production model P1 which actually gets to the shops may be significantly different to the prototype. The estimated release date is August 2007.
You can also check out our own preview here.

AAS already did an extensive hands-on preview of the P1 a couple of weeks ago:

i know...but i think it was not so extensive

well, i guess next will be a proper review of a final unit and not a proto...it will take some time yet

It's not as extensive as the mobile-review one, but will the mobile-review site ever do a proper review of the production model? Often they just look at prototypes and then never bother doing a real review of the finished phone.

It's a matter of taste but IMHO it's much better to put the time and effort into a short or medium-sized preview and a much longer review of the final version, as the prototype will never ever be on sale.

I agree it's interesting to see this stuff early, but like I said before too many sites label these prototype previews as proper reviews, and then never bother reviewing the actual phone which people can actually buy.

Ares, there is no conspiracy theory against UIQ or Sonyericsson.

If you look at the archives you will see they have had their equal share of coverage when anything worth reporting on comes up. You may see more S60 and Nokia articles simply because they have been more active in the Symbian world lately and Sony have just began to come back publicly into the scene.

So don't worry, UIQ will get its deserved coverage. AAS is one of the most balanced Symbian smartphone websites there can be and is well respected.
