Another troubleshooting tale, this time about the Ovi Store client

Our own David Gilson is fast becoming a self-made expert on resurrecting Symbian^3 phones which have got their (software) knickers in a twist. We've previously posted his “When beta testing goes bad” article, looking at solving Qt install issues. Now David's had problems with the Ovi Store client refusing to start - and found the answer came from an unexpected source

David's looking, as ever, for more data points, should you have suffered the same fate. Either comment on his blog post or comment here instead.

From the posting:

"For reasons that are still unknown to me, the Ovi Store app (v2.08) on my C7, suddenly would not load. It was stuck at the blue and green loading screen, continually playing the spinning icon animation.....

...This might sound unlikely, but a pre-requisite of installing Nokia Reader is to install a .sis file for the Ovi Notifications Support Package. Having installed that .sis file, without bothering with the Nokia Reader application (I’m becoming very shy of Beta Labs apps, despite their appeal), I rebooted the C7 and tried the Ovi Store. To my delight, it started up as normal."
