Power users are always on the look out for ways of getting to information just that little bit quicker. In this review of SkyeQuiKey Steve examines one potential option. SkyeQuiKey is an utility application that integrates with the idle screen of S60 3rd Edition phones and offers quick matching against contacts and applications stored on the phone.
Nokia Ad Business today announced an agreement with Handmark to provide a mobile advertising solution for its Pocket Express mobile data application. Nokia Ad Business is a marketplace for mobile advertising, it was formed out of the fusion of Nokia's recent Enpocket acquisition together with the existing Nokia Ad Service and Nokia Advertising Connector. We expect to see further such announcements in the future as more services move to an advertising funded model.
Nokia Beta labs have announced the renewed availability of the beta of Nseries PC Suite 2.0. The software gets a new look and feel and a major new addition, Nokia Photos, is integrated into Nseries PC Suite. Other improvements include single click sync and drag and drop file copying to a device. Installation is also easier thanks to a web based installer. Read on for more details and screenshots.
It has been informallyannounced that a PHP and MySQL implementation is going to be added to Nokia's Web Server software Raccoon. ...just...can't....resist...posting.... these links. The famous Light Sabre has been upgraded to 1.3, with auto-activation on slide opening and much more. See Ricky Cadden's blog for details but here's the download link. Vrmmmm!!!
Yes, you know all about S60 games and you know about the upcoming N-Gage titles, but what about all those games tucked away in publisher folders inside your Download! application? Medal of Honour, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07, etc? In the interests of experimentation, I bought a batch and here report back on J2ME games via Download! Your comments welcome, as always!
Psiloc's irRemote has been one of the most eagerly awaited utilities for S60 3rd Edition and Symbian In Motion reports that it's now finished. Assuming your S60 smartphone has an infrared port (quite likely), your smartphone can then be a valid backup in case a genuine TV or a/v remote goes missing.
S60.com do like to license and give away free utilities every now and then. This month, they've just put up Aglaya's Call Filter (normally $9), as the name suggests a piece of software to filter through just the calls you want, according to rules that you set up. It's compatible with all S60 3rd Edition smartphones. Grab it while you can! (you do need to 'sign in' for the link to work)
In this news post we have rounded up some information from today's N82 launch including a summary of the virtual event and numbers on the reduced lag and latency time on the N82's camera. We have also rounded some initial commentary and media from around the web. Read on for more.
It's not every day that a reader points out a utility that I've never even heard of. In this case, thanks to Garvin for pointing out LightNotepad, a freeware plain text editor for S60 3rd Edition. It works on any device, but is especially useful for editing HTML, javascript and other text-based languages on keyboard-equipped devices like the Nokia E90 and E61i. Grab it now! What's that? You can't speak Finnish? You need the English page then 8-)
I know it's desperately sad, but it's also jaw-droppingly cool at the same time. LightSabre 1.1 just got released (thanks, Ricky) for the Nokia N95, with faster response and green screen power. It'll be the talk of the Office Christmas party, I tell you...
PiZero is a genius, I tell you. His latest S60 theme, simply titled 'Gold' is stunning and is now standard equipment on the editorial E90 and N95. Why not give your smartphone the gilt-edge treatment, too? Oh, and if you like his themes, use the PayPal button to donate the price of a beer - I did. Party on, PiZero!
