After a number of disappointing game titles recently, I'm pleased to announce reviews of a couple of real crackers. Ewan is delighted by STPuzzles for UIQ 3 smartphones (like his new consort, the W950i), while krisse is utterly blown away by K-Rally for S60 3rd Edition (also available for S60 1st/2nd/N-Gage, coming soon on UIQ3). Enjoy.
AAS chief Rafe Blandford weighs in with his official predictions and challenges for 2007, along with an assessment of what he got right and wrong from last year's predictions piece. Essential reading for anyone in the industry or who is interested in where the Symbian OS world is going. Plus, a bonus preview of the front cover of Symbian magazine, Dec 2007...
Interesting to see the other famous(!) video-obsessed Nokia N93 nut, Steve Garfield, posting his long term thoughts on the device. Interesting too to see that he's hit some of the same lock-ups that lose precious footage as me. Summary: great device, but Nokia must fix the camera bugs in the v20 firmware.
Fans of possibly the best S60 game available will be cheered to know that Virtual Pool Mobile is now in beta testing for S60 3rd Edition. I've been playing it on the 5500 and N93 and it works pretty well for early beta. Screenshots below from the 5500..... Availability of the release version is early February.
OK, it's official. The S60 (2nd and 3rd Edition) game Invasion looks a million dollars - but it's only half finished and lacks almost everything needed to make it into an immersive (not to mention fun) experience. Here's krisse's detailed review.
It's...... AllAboutSymbian videocast no. 5, in which I review the Nokia 5500 and demonstrate all its unique attributes. Summary? Hey, so what if it's got a 208 pixel screen? - you can use this baby underwater!
Yet another DVD/video to Nokia smartphone converter has been released, from Rock Your Mobile. Nokia Video Converter looks quite slick though. URL and press release follows.
Steve thinks nothing in the modern world seems to work properly any more. In this editorial he ponders whether heavily converged devices are ready for the mass market when things do not work 100% reliably.
Mobile Systems' OfficeSuite 3 is released today for S60 3rd Edition devices. New features include charts, Inbox support and a better file browser. The full press release follows. With a new version of Quickoffice coming very soon, we'll be featuring a head-to-head review just as soon as we've polished off the Christmas pudding and mince pies... In the meantime, though, just try it out for yourself!
