More N-Gage details tomorrow.

According to this ZDNet article Nokia are going to do a full press release for the N-Gage tomorrow. So we should then know the full specification of the device and initial software details. The article says Nokia are trying to break into the games market due to slow growth in mobile phones but expects them to have a hard time doing it. They did not mention release dates but the February Carphone Warehouse catalogue says the N-Gague is expected in May. It also said the 3650 is due in late Feb but the P800 is not expected until March.

Maybe it shows just how far behind the rest of us the US is, but reading such positive comments from a place where anything without a Microsoft logo is disregarded as pointless (or 'bugfart' as they like to say)....

Nokia and Symbian still top in EMEA

According to the Canalys quarter 4 sales figures Nokia with its Symbian devices took 42% of the overall PDA & Smartphone market with 679,250 units shipped. This was similar to Q3 with 665,940 units, so they are keeping up the momentum. Palm came 2'nd with 381,100 and 24% and HP 3rd with 151,990 down to just 9% of the market.

Siemens to launch Symbian Phone at Cannes

Siemens is set to launch its highly anticpated Symbian phone at 3GSM in Cannes according to this PMN report. Two new phones (a high end Symbian, and low end) are set to be announced and a further two at CeBit (another Symbian phone perhaps). The phone is likely to be the much rumoured Series 60 device.

Sendo liscenses Symbian OS

Its been anticipated for some time, but now the official announcement has been made. Sendo have liscensed the Symbian OS following up on their liscensing on Series 60. Sendo’s first Symbian OS product will be a data-enabled smartphone using the Series 60 User Interface.

Shock - Horror: 9210 communicator in music vid mayhem!

Ok not so much mayhem. But in the music vid for MyBalloon's new release "Trust No One" (due out on Feb 3rd in Germany), we can clearly see a chubby business man type talking into a 9210 and holding it the right way round. A non-perfect quality video can be downloaded from the band's website.

Not long ago, it was discovered that you can actually bypass the security on the Orange/Microsoft SPiV so that installing third party applications becomes a reality. If you bought one of these units with the intention of installing extra software, your dreams have come true - only keep looking over your shoulder because Microsoft and Orange are looking for you.......
