It's a long while since I posted a 'Musing', but this story on The Register caught my eye and makes for very interesting reading in that we finally get to hear what it is Sendo has to say about what Microsoft did to screw it sideways, chew it up and leave Sendo for dead....
For the last week you may have had trouble reaching AAS. The site has been down due to a server failure. I apologise for the downtime; things should be back to normal now for the most part, but there are a few things still being fixed.

According to the Symbian web site. Symbian Ltd. today announces that its licensee Fujitsu has completed development of a Symbian OS smartphone for NTT DoCoMo's FOMA 3G network. Fujitsu will begin volume shipments to NTT DoCoMo shortly. (UPDATE:- Details of device now in comments) .
Symbian and its partners today announced that OPL will become an Open Source project. The exact workings are still being worked out, but All About Symbian will be involved in the planning. Various Symbian partners have indicated that they will be looking to assist the current Development Team in porting OPL to the Series 60 and UIQ devices.
The Symbain press office has reported that ARM, HP, Motorola SPS, RealNetworks and Texas have signed as Platinum development partners. This was announced at the Symbian Partner Event (SPE) in London today. What surprises me is the inclusion of HP in the list. However I don't think too much can be read into HP joining, apart from the fact that they are at last taking Symbian seriously.
Have a look at this very interesting read at The Register. It appears that all the courting and PR momentum built up with the Mobius Conference is about to be damaged. Developers are being asked to pay up to $600 per application to get their Orange SPV Stinger apps Microsoft Certified - and without that certificate the apps won't run on the SPV. Symbian's Developer Support doesn't seem at all bad this morning...

To put it simply, nobody is still able to comment with 100% accuracy why Sendo decided to dump the MS-Stinger powered Z-100 as it was about to be launched, but The Register (as usual) has looked at history and come up with some conclusions that are as close as we're going to get in the near future. And to keep things balanced, why not have a look at the Microsoft supporters point of view over at Pocket PC Thoughts. Silicon Investor also have their own take on this as well, covering both the Sendo article and the longer term implications to Microsoft.
In a recent press release Nokia said it was looking to ship 50-100 million colour devices next year and that Series 60 devices would represent 10 million of these. This represents massive sales of Symbian OS, and would outstrip with ease the entire PDA market (both Palm and MS combined).
