Opera Software today unveiled the 'mobileIPG' (mobile Interactive Programming Guide). mobileIPG converges Opera's capabilities in the iTV and telecom markets by using Opera's support for open Web standards. A mobile phone can now trigger the recording of a TV program on a satellite or Internet-enabled Personal Video Recorder (PVR). Using the mobileIPG, both mobile phone operators and Pay TV operators can empower users to carry the entire IPG in their pocket, scheduling their TV recording while on the move via a simple one-touch interface. The application is cross-platform, with Opera running on Linux-powered set-top boxes and Symbian OS-powered mobile phones.
Symbian today announced that Fujitsu Limited and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation are exploring a joint collaboration to develop new FOMA mobile handsets running Symbian OS for NTT DoCoMo, Inc. Full press release in comments.
Lenvo (formely known as Legend) have licensed Symbian OS. This follows on from their licensing of Series 60 announced at 3GSM. Lenvo is looking to bring Symbian smartphones to the Chinese market.
According to this FT article both Ericsson and Sony Ericsson will be exercising their right to buy some of Psion's Symbian shares. Currently they hold 17.5 and 1.5 percent respectively. Their new combined shareholding will be 27.6%.

This Register article along with some other sites are saying that the non Nokia Symbain owners could use their rights to restrict the purchase of Psions share of the company. If the other sites excise their right to buy part of the shares on offer then Nokia's total holding could be resticted to 46%.
Symbian today announced the next version of their OS 8.0. This covers a number of enhancements including support of SDIO which allows for SD memory expansion and other devices such as digital TV tuning or fingerprint recognition. Anyway the full press release detailing the enhancements is attached.
Symbian have announced that LG have licensed their OS for use in development of smartphones for 2.5G and 3G networks. It does not mention that they will use either UIQ or Series 60 so it is possible they will develop their own user interface. Full press release attached.
