Having just rolled out Belle Refresh for most of the Nokia N8/E7 generation of devices and then put out Belle Feature Pack 2 for the newer Nokia 808/701 generation, Nokia has helped close the gap between the two application sets by backporting the new versions of Calendar and Social to the older batch of devices this evening via the on-device SW_update system. Even better, a specially licensed copy of ColorizIt comes along for the ride on the Nokia N8. Screenshots below.
As seen in Sw_update... These versions match those available in Belle FP2 devices. The Calendar update is being pushed to all Belle devices that haven't already got this version as part of a firmware update, while the Nokia Social update seems to be being pushed for Belle Refresh(ed) phones only.
When first setting up a social account, you're asked if you want to grab contact images - always worth a go (mine are woefully under-populated still); and the Facebook module in action.

You can check for these updates by going into Sw_update on your device. Note that the Nokia Social and Calendar updates require a restart of the phone. Note that the Social contact thumbnail integration requires a certain amount of indexing and downloading, so don't expect full speed from Social for a few minutes after the restart.
Note also that, as usual, there may be some restrictions in availability depending on region and product code, though I'd have thought these applications were fairly generic. It's great to see more and more of the Belle FP2 functions and featured being shared for the older devices and OS version. And it's truly impressive, amidst dwindling Symbian-focussed resources, to see how Nokia keeps supporting the older Symbian^3 generation devices with firmware and application updates a full two years after release.
And yes, there's still some confusion over some older device product codes getting Belle Refresh and some getting the 'Homescreen widgets' update. Don't blame me, go ask Nokia!
