The Belle FAQ marches on

Published by at

In the frantic activity that surrounded the Belle update for existing Symbian^3/Anna devices last month, you'll have noticed that Nokia put up an update troubleshooting FAQ? But I bet you didn't know that Nokia has been keeping this bang up to date, adding to it quite extensively. It now stands as a really useful resource, with several interesting nuggets that caught my eye.

From the FAQ:

On the subject of contacts duplication:

How do I avoid double contact entries after the back up and Mail for Exchange installation (which is synching contacts too)?

To avoid duplicated contact entries, please delete all existing device contacts when re-creating the Mail for Exchange account.

On the subject of missing character counts when writing SMS:

After the update to Nokia Belle, it is not possible to see the amount of characters left when writing a text message. Is that visibility coming in future updates?

We will enable the visibility in upcoming updates. For E7 you can see the character counter if you close the slider and user the virtual keyboard and softkeys instead.

On the subject of FLV video playback:

After the update to Nokia Belle I can't play some .flv flash files or .mkv video files anymore. What should I do?

We are currently investigating the issue and will share a solution as soon as possible.

On the subject of multiple Exchange accounts:

Can I have multiple MS-Exchange accounts on my phone with Nokia Belle?

With Nokia Belle, you can only have one MS-Exchange account in use on your phone. If you want to use an another MS-Exchange account then your current one, you have to remove the existing mail box and create a new one with other credentials.

All in all, a comprehensive FAQ, with hundreds of answers, divided into many different categories. Well done, Nokia, even if some of the issues that the FAQ errrm... answers shouldn't have been issues in the first place! Roll on some updates and patches, if you please.
