Ode to the Nokia N93

Steve goes all poetic and murders the art of poetry in an attempt to comment on his experiences with the N93...

Black, black and ominously powerful - the N93

Ode to the Nokia N93

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?

more a Dark Lord of the Sith in the Empire way.

By day you shine, gleaming metallic black,

performing miracles, never looking back.

With VGA vids and TV out, you dazzle all,

that twisting screen and zoom control.

All media submits before your accelerator chip,

while all eyes are on you, there's nary a blip.

Music, movies, photos too,

all in your stride, a Colossus it's true.

But...

By night the gremlins who rule your soul,

come out to play and take control.

A different story then, as orphan processes and rogue memory leaks,

cause frozen screens and reset freaks.

No power by morning is not uncommon,

it seems deep down that things are wrong.

Bring on the updates I hear myself scream,

fine tuning the Force 'til you rule supreme.

Until that day though, your black and fearsome might

remains a powerful but subversively unstable sight.

Black, black and ominously powerful - the N93

Steve Litchfield, October 2006, after 3 months, through thick and thin, with the Nokia N93. What a fabulous device, it's turned heads  and slackened jaws everywhere I've been. Yet it's also caused me more sighing with frustration than any other smartphone of the last  few years!
