Orange Code Camp Reminder

Published by at

Orange have made further details of thier upcoming Code Camp in Opio available. Developers will have a chance to get up to speed on the latest developments with sessions on Series 60 3rd Edition, UIQ 3 and the new Symbian security model is Symbian OS v9. With Symbian, Nokia, Sony Ericsson and UIQ are gold sponsors there will be plenty on offer for the Symbian developer. It is also a chance to talk to Orange about the Operator route to market, and met feelow developers.

The Orange Code Camp consists of different activities and opportunities (partially quoted from the Orange website):

The Opening Pow-Wow is the 'launch pad of the event and the themes discussed here will form the structure of the following sessions'.

Orange Code Camp will feature over 70 sessions throughout the three days. These consist of 'an introduction to' a variety of subjects, interactive technical and commercial seminars and 'Talk to Orange slots'.

You will be able to meet the Orange team at the on-site developer centre. Benefit from developer support from the technical experts from Orange and our alliance partners, test against the Orange networks and devices, and more.

Handset enabler demos will take place within the sessions and around the event.

To round up the event there is the Closing Pow-Wow where the activities of the last 3 days are recapped, the competition winners will be announced.

In contrast to previous Code Camps there will also be an additional focus on the post development cycle. The code is not enough, products must also be delivered to the market. The commerical sessions will focus on Orange and thier route to markets, but there will also be general advice on branding and information on how Orange segment devices. Together with the chance to chat with fellow developers about thier commerical experience this means the less focused upon area of the post-coding product life cycle should get some much needed attention.

Orange are also running a competition for developers at the event. The winner of the most compelling mobile solution will walk away with a Segway HT (or may glide away).

It's not all work though; Orange are promising to lay on several fun evening activities in conjunction with their sponsors. The setting on the Club Med at Opio is also likely to provides some opportunities for non-development related activity.
