Ravensoft have released their Twitter client for Symbian, TweetS60. It enters a market with many smaller clients and two strong C++ clients (Gravity and Twittix). The initial feature set is not huge, but it does have a clean UI and being labelled as a public beta there could be a lot of development work planned. You can download from www.tweetS60.com.

To be honest the simplicity of TweetS60 compared to the all-singing fully featured apps that it will compete against will actually server it very well. It's fast in downloading the information (as it needs less of it), and the smaller menus remind everyone that sometimes the clean minimal feature set can be of benefit. It's certainly worth a look, even if you are an existing user of the other clients; and certainly I'd recommend this for new users to Twitter (as opposed to Twitter power users grabbing their first smartphone client).

It is compatible with 5th edition touchscreen devices, although it is not optimised for touch input, it does work, and retains the same simplicity as in the 3rd edition screenshots you see above.
