Not All App Stores Are Equal In Regards Multiple Downloads

Published by Ewan Spence at 15:59 UTC, June 2nd 2009

Over on ZDnet, Matthew Millar has taken a look at the four main Smartphone application stores, specifically the issue of what the stores will allow in terms of re-downloading previously purchased content, installing on multiple devices and the returns policy of the store. Alongside the newly launched Ovi Store, he considers the Apple App Store, the Android Market Place and Blackberry's App World.

The Nokia Ovi Store terms state that customers are “limited to one private installation on one Nokia compatible device at any one time.” There is no further clarification on this statement... There is no refund policy on applications purchased from the Ovi Store and if the Ovi Store performs as it should then you should not have technical issues with apps.

And his final thoughts on Ovi? "Nokia has a chance to gain on the others if the recommendation functionality improves as users share their favorite apps."

You can read all his thoughts over on the ZDNet blog.
