Where is Sync on the Nokia 5800? Read this article to find out...

One of the most commonly-asked questions about the 5800 from advanced users is "Where the flipping heck is that flipping blue blistering blarndarsted flipping Sync flipping application on this flipping thing?" Well you'll be glad to know there is Sync on the 5800, and it is also very easy to access but you have to know where to look. As a special tip-of-the-day we've got a guide to finding Sync on the 5800 below.

How to find Sync on the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic:

1. Tap the screen next to the battery indicator in the top right corner of the screen.

2. Select the Connectivity icon (the arrows pointing in different directions).

3. Select "Data Transfer".

4. Select "Sync".

There, easy when you know how!

If you register on Ovi.com and follow the instructions, it will send you a settings text message which will automatically set up Sync with your Ovi account. You'll then be able to edit your contacts, calendar, to-do and notes on both your phone and through the ovi.com website.

Unfortunately finding Sync isn't very easy, and it seems many many many people miss this and assume the 5800 doesn't have a Sync app at all.

If anyone from Nokia is reading this: how on earth do you expect people to use Ovi if they can't find Sync on their phone!?

(ahem)

The Internet or Applications folders would be much better places for Sync, especially if Nokia is serious about pushing the Ovi.com contacts and calendar services. The Ovi.com sync setup process specifically tells the user to access the phone's Sync application, yet it's very difficult to find Sync on the 5800 without prior knowledge.

Better yet, why not integrate the Sync application into all of the apps which are to be synchronised? It's somewhat integrated with Contacts and Notes but there's nothing in Calendar at all (which includes the To-Do items too).
