Ovi Mail receives incremental update and joins main Ovi line up

Nokia have continued to tweak their Ovi services with a few changes to Ovi Mail. The main visual change is that it is now integrated in the top icon bar of the main Ovi site, while in the background it will now automatically check for email and allow you to mark mail as read without requiring you to open said mail.

From the Nokia Beta Labs Blog, the change log (such as it is)...

  • We've added two important features: Ovi Mail is now automatically checking for new messages, and you can mark messages as 'read' without opening them.
  • We fixed a problem in Chrome and Safari (on Mac) where a message sometimes didn't get sent as intended. Thanks for helping us track this down.
  • We're always improving the look and feel of Ovi Mail to make it more appealing and easy to use. Look out for changes in auto-complete, notifications and various improvements to the compose screen.
  • Ovi Mail is now available in 3 additional languages: Italian, Vietnamese and Latin America Spanish. And we made improvements to the existing translations.

Ovi is of course the overall name for Nokia's mobile portal, and includes mail, mapping, music, the app store, storage space for files and a PIM suite, with much of the data able to be synced to your mobile over the air.
