PyS60 now installs without errors on the Nokia 5800

Published by Steve Litchfield at 8:10 UTC, April 2nd 2009

There's now a build of the latest Python for S60 (PyS60) which installs without errors on S60 5th Edition devices like the Nokia 5800. v1.9.3 introduced quite a few enhancements, chief among which was support for touchscreens. Though this build will be of interest mainly to developers, I suspect several professional applications for the 5800 written in Python won't be far behind now. (via Croozeus)

Slightly OT, but I'm posting it anyway....

I'm fairly new to S60, having moved from WM where I did some hobbyist developing. I was keen to develop my own apps and looked at Python (native apps being beyond me!).

I couldn't even get the Python runtimes installed on my E71 - some versions won't appear to install (apps and scripts cant see it) and the only version that installed screwed up my push email.

Maybe it's me, but to a noob it's not friendly and yet my only chance to develop for this platform
