Yahoo! produces a next-gen mobile home page

Yahoo! may make blunders elsewhere in the computing world, but they've always had their head screwed on when it comes to mobile. Yahoo! has just launched its next-gen mobile home page, which you can find at new.m.yahoo.com in your phone's web browser. Some screens below to give you a flavour, but on first look they seem to have done a good job integrating news sources, weather and traditional mobile information with a new 'Social pulse' panel, in which feeds from the likes of Facebook, Twitter and Friendster can be amalgamated and presented in chronological order.

Admittedly, the fonts are a bit too small by default on the Nokia 5800, but they should be fine for most traditional mobile screens. Comments welcome if you've tried this new mobile home page. Certainly worth bookmarking, at any rate!

One thing about a mail ID that is well publicized is the difficulty of getting rid off it. That’s the equation between me and Yahoo Mail.

They still treat POP and email forwarding as premium features. Not the $20 per annum is more, its just that Yahoo needs to move on. Again as far as Yahoo! Go 3.0 is concerned, there is still no word of supporting it on the Nokia 5800. Also, this new feature looks to me like an extension of oneSearch !!!

I really don’t expect too much from Yahoo, but hope that Nokia can make up for this omission by including Yahoo mail in the next release of “Nokia Messaging”

Suju.
