Handy Safe Professional Edition

Published by Steve Litchfield at 10:34 UTC, December 4th 2008

We mentioned the availability of early versions of this a few weeks ago, but Handy Safe Professional Edition has now been formally released for all S60 3rd Edition phones, with a slicker desktop companion application. Features, changelog and links below the break.

The AAS team have sworn by Handy Safe for years because of its two-way sync from phone to desktop, so this is a new release that you should definitely try.

From the press release:

"Handy Safe Pro – a new Professional edition of the best selling Handy Safe application that guarantees secure storage and convenient private data control as well as two-way synchronization with PC on S60 smartphones - uses password protection and a strong 448-bit data encryption (Blowfish) that keeps your data private and secure."

  • 35 unique information forms to store everything on your smartphone
  • Custom templates to store specific information according to your needs
  • Strong 448-bit data encryption (Blowfish) keeps your data private and secure.
  • URLs are treated as hyperlinks

  • Possibility to restore items in case of accidental deleting
  • Autolock option when Handy Safe is in background or if you don’t use Handy Safe for a certain period of time

Just to let you know that I bought this on a special offer last week (so no trial) and it is quite clearly labelled as being compatible with the Samsung i8510. However the desktop app can't see the phone and when I checked with Epocware they confirmed this to be the case and a fix should follow next year.

Yes, I commented on this in my Samsung i7110 review yesterday....

It's VERY early days for Samsung in the S60 world. Buy with caution etc. There's a lot more to a productive smartphone environment than just a great physical phone.....

If you already have Handy Safe you can upgrade for reduced price of $14.95 until 18th Dec. This is an essential piece of software.

Have they actually fixed the bugs found in the Beta testing period yet? I'd heard that they were going to do that some time later, which didn't fill me with confidence

I'll stick with the original one on my E71. Don't think I should pay for an upgrade when I paid for the original. Cheap ***s at Epochware!!!

Here's something fun:

IF you have already paid for Handy Safe, then you can download the demo version of the Pro edition and use the same registration code. It works... (atleast for me it did!)

No need to pay $15 for the update guys...

I love HS, in part because of the desktop, but am just switching to Mac OSX. Is there anything going on with Pro, or otherwise, that will provide the same desktop sync functionality?
