Handy Safe Pro Updated To Help You Organise Your Data

Published by Ewan Spence at 10:23 UTC, November 19th 2008

Epocware have updated their security/reminder application Handy Safe Pro. Allowing you to store passwords, user names, pins and other paraphernalia (and manage them on your device or via an included PC application), this latest version has a recovery operation for accidental deletions, sub folders, and URLs now act as hyperlinks into the Web Browser.

Handy Safe Pro features

  • Store passwords, credit cards details, user names, codes, accounts (email, Internet, shopping, bank), web pages, addresses, travel info, insurance policies, software keys and much more.
  • 35 unique information forms to store everything on your smartphone.
  • Custom templates to store specific information according to your needs.
  • Strong 448-bit data encryption (Blowfish) keeps your data private and secure. There is no effective codebreaking on Blowfish known publicly as of now.
  • New! URLs are treated as hyperlinks
  • New! Subfolders support
  • New! Possibility to restore items in case of accidental deleting
  • New! Autolock when Handy Safe is in background or if you don’t use Handy Safe for a certain period of time

The link in the article goes to AAS shop. But "Try it" button there results to Handango error page.

I use a password protected zip file on my e71. This allows me to store all types of information securely. Guess this is nothing new, but its free!

Is this an update to handy safe because on epocware's website they only have handy safe pro for sale?

Autolock function is not new, handy safe v5.09 already has it.

Also all the entries now have a card name title which you can't remove and the font is huge and you can't change it.

They've ruined it, the font size in each entry is massive now.
Even on an E71 many entries like web addresses now wrap to two line and are awkward to use.
I like the new subfolders and hyperlinks.

But as it stands, for me at least, its flawed with that large text.

Overall the only "big" thing with the Pro version is that they have this backup function which uses their own format creating a .hsbak file which seems like it's encrypted in some way (Tried using Notepad2 to open it up)

Indeed URLs are treated like what they are, but that is only for the PC application, nothing major news have arrived on the phone side except that the icons are more colourful and fancy as well as the textsize have increased.

As Ratkat mentioned the size of the font is a downturn in my opinion also.
What if you use your mobile to remember some passwords and opens the application up? People can easily see this info easily if they sit behind you.
