Opera Mini

From the Opera Mini beta web site:

Opera today released a preview of Opera Mini 4.2, the newest version of the world's most popular mobile Web browser that works on almost every mobile phone. With this beta release, Opera celebrates Opera Mini being the browser of choice for more than 20 million unique monthly users worldwide. As part of the celebration, Opera Mini users in the United States and Asia-Pacific region can now experience faster browsing speeds, due to the addition of an Opera Mini server park in the United States.

Opera Mini is available to download for beta testing at http://www.operamini.com/beta/.

New in Opera Mini 4.2 beta:

  • Skins - Personalize Opera Mini by choosing a new colorful skin. We have reintroduced the popular skinning feature from Opera Mini 3.
  • Performance - Opera Mini 4.2 can use our newly established server park in the US. This means significantly faster page downloads for our users in the Americas and Asia-Pacific region. Users in the rest of the world will also experience faster page downloads since we’ve reduced the load on our other servers.
  • Video - We are working to make video content available on more phones through Opera Mini. If you have a new Sony Ericsson or Nokia phone, the chance is high that you can take Opera Mini for a spin on m.youtube.com.

  • Sync your Notes -The handy Notes functionality from the Opera Desktop Web browser just got more portable through Opera Link. All of your notes are available in Opera Mini directly from the Bookmarks menu.

Is there an wasy way to copy over your bookmarks for 4.1 to 4.2? I thought that it would have been done automatically.

Thanks,

John

I'm sure you can sync them with opera servers before and after install, just like with all the other versions.

Beta versions are not consideret replacement for your older version. When 4.2 goes out of beta and you still have 4.1 installed it will automatically replace it and carry over all your bookmarks. At least that was the case when going from 4.0 to 4.1, so I expect it to be the same going from 4.1 to 4.2.

using opera link bookmarks are always in sync across several versions of opera mini and opera desktop versions

Syncin' works well, however the default links get synchronized too :(
They have to bee deleted after the synching process.

My problem was that I was not using the Opera sync function and expecting the new version just to pick up the same ones that the 4.1 version was using. I've synced now and everythings fine.

Thanks,

John
