Samsung Mobile Innovator open for registrations

Last week, at the Symbian Smartphone Show, the Samsung Mobile Innovator developer program opened its doors for developer registrations. The program provides support, both technical and business, for mobile developers creating applications across the entire range of Samsung S60 devices. As part of the launch Samsung are offering to put to 300 applications through the Symbian Signing process for free. Read on for more.

Samsung Mobile Innovator provides the usual range of SDKs, add-ons and technical support forums that we've comes to expect from developer support programs. There's also a virtual device laboratory which enables developers to test applications on real phones from a remote location (a great way to ensure compatibility without having to purchase every device). The program also aims to provide business development support to help developers find the appropriate route to market.

As part of the technical support portion of the site the program provides add-ons to the S60 SDK that allow developers to access some of the unique capabilities of Samsung's S60 devices. Current examples of these include APIs to access the G-Sensor accelerometer and Optical joystick found on both the I8510 and I7110.

The program is free to join, and basic membership is available to all.

To help promote the launch of the portal, Samsung are offering to support 300 mobile applications through the Symbian Signed certification process. The process is outlined at the Innovator portal here and more details on the signing program can be found here.
