Google Mobile goes Olympic

Published by Steve Litchfield at 7:22 UTC, August 8th 2008

Google has just pointed out that they've put some new optimisations in place on their mobile site for the duration of the Olympic Games. There's a dedicated mobile-friendly index page to their coverage at www.google.com/m/summergames, plus just typing in a sport name into the main home screen will also get you results and information. Going to be an exciting few weeks and now you can stay in touch wherever you are!

that m.nos.nl/mobiel site is just sending me around in circles.
don't you have a direct link to the installation file?

EDIT: I see now. it's for Dutch people only. great. one would expect to see symbian application to do something similar for the rest of the world too.

Well, the british have their ip-domain limited video broadcasts. So do the dutch now. Pity it is ip-domain limited. Still the concept of a free (non-paid) mobile broadcast service of the Olympics is pretty exciting. I whished I had a relay into the british domain so I could watch 'Doctor Who'.

BBC coverage is at http://news.bbc.co.uk/mobile/bbc_spo...rt/index.shtml.

A reminder for those who are not used to the conspiracy at S60 to have us all suffering from RSI as soon as possible... you can't just launch a video from the browser because RealPlayer's access point is different from the access point you chose when you launched your browser. You have to go to tools - settings - applications - realplayer - streaming - default access point. Ridiculous, I know.

Even then, I always struggle to get the BBC's video through firewalls: sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. I'm also being told there's not enough bandwidth to view them over this area's pathetic gprs.

nothing of much joy to me. Anyways, my country has got a realistic chance of winning a medal only in shooting so that exhaustive list probably will be of no help to me but great help for other sport enthusiasts across the world!!
