N78 updates across the board

Published by Steve Litchfield at 6:42 UTC, July 15th 2008

Reports are coming in (e.g. here and the official page here) that the Nokia N78 has just received another firmware update, to v12.046, available over the air or via Nokia Software Update. v12.046 "includes a number of performance improvements including softkey selection, Bluetooth stability, video playback, email sending and alarm clock functions."

A 991KB download. Downloads, reboots and upgrades. No loss of data :).
After another reboot and a music player library refresh, the music player stops hanging after a couple of songs.

n78 direct update great new system works like a dream

BUT n78 on Vodafone PAYG for internet, WAP, MMS not possible. Vodafone cannot sort it neither can Nokia - they both tried very hard but could not do it. I now have a very expensive phone that works brilliantly on wireless LAN but with no data services outside office and home networks which rather defeats the object of such an expensive bit of kit.

Does anyone have any ideas?

STILL NO UPDATE FOR N78-3 (N78 NAM). There have been 2 updates for the N78 but none for my N78-3. WTF is going on?

Is there a way I can complain to Nokia? This is getting ridiculous.

I have a UK N78 on O2 and it reports "no updates available" when I check.
But the phone looks no different from the standard N78 apart from the o2 theme.
What's going on?

"Wow" they fixed the back softkey. I'm puzzled how they got that wrong in the first place. It sometimes stuck, and there was no reaction even if pressing it 20 times.

But it's still a P.o.S. phone! For example the Bluetooth Hands Free still does not work! Even the CK-1W from Nokia is not working.
