Nokia Map Loader gets its own built-in shop!

Published by Steve Litchfield at 13:40 UTC, June 19th 2008

Arguably starting to be as much in need of a name change as Sports Tracker, Nokia's Map Loader tool just got a big 2.0 upgrade (though still nominally 'beta') and now includes a built-in web shop for browsing and purchasing voice guidance and real-time navigation functions (plus city guides, etc) all using a credit card rather than having to buy on the device through operator billing. What a good idea. Comments welcome if you've grabbed this and given it a try.

Thanks for the link. A very dissapointing update in my opinion.

The effort required to make it more user friendly is minimal.

1. Prices should be shown on tyhe same screen as the maps, rather than having to 'buy'.

2. The map version you currently have is in tiny writing at the bottom of the window. Why not have the map version on your phone shown clearer, and something saying its either uptodate, or needs updating?

3. It should do the same with the version of the actual maps app.

That is why it is called BETA ;)

Anyway, I guess after such improvements you mentioned, it'll be a fantastic application :)
