Another N73 update

Published by Steve Litchfield at 13:05 BST, May 23rd 2008

The hugely popular Nokia N73 has another new firmware update available. v4.0812.4.x was released released yesterday via Nokia Software Update and includes support for mobile TV (when used with Nokia's SU-33W receiver) and Express Mail clients, plus updates and improvements to Nokia Maps and improved Java support.

Yeah Nokia sure love this phone but I guess its huge time for this company to release a firmware for the N93!! Nokia is really insulting N93 users by putting them aside from any new firmware since 2006!!

The N73 is hampering Nokia's progress.

Fact.

Exhibit A: N-Gage, Exhibit B: Forgetting other higher-end phones.

This will keep the missus happy :)

And I have to say, it's getting terribly dull and tedious when every new item regarding a firmware upgrade is jumped upon by disgruntled and bitter N93 owners. When will they simply face the fact that it ain't gonna happen and maybe they should either accept what they've got or migrate to a newer handset.

I suspect it's basic economics, Nokia have shipped milions of N73s, I've only seen one person in the wild (other than Steve Litchfield) with an N93.

It'd probably be far cheaper to send an N73 to every N93 owner than spend development time updating the firmware...

Oh, dear, Wow! "Migrate" What a wonderful advice! You mean close my mouth and spend another lot of money in the next Nokia Not-so-serious-series? FORGET IT!

It is basic economics, the N73 is STILL on sale in many shops while other models released since then have already disappeared. It's one of Nokia's most popular S60 models, so they have the biggest incentive to continue supporting it.

I wonder if this update is in preparation for making it N-Gage compatible... certainly hope so judging from the large number of people who mention it on here and on the official N-Gage blog.

Yup. Best advice you'll get.

Deal with it and move on.

I've seen several n93s in the wild (10 maybe, over the course of a year), and I'm in China where they are darned expensive.

I'm sure an update would be very welcome (though I suspect it wouldn't include the Chinese models).

Does the new firmware have album art? Because if it does I rather not upgrade to ME.

Hi !

FWIW this version still doesn't want to sync with osx, even not the 10.5.3 version

this nokia went south in version 73, this firmware doesn't solve it ..
