NSU down for a day

Published by Steve Litchfield at 16:19 BST, May 16th 2008

Just a short note that we've heard that Nokia Software Update will be down for 24 hours, as from 19:00 GMT tomorrow (Saturday). Presumably it's something to do with fixing Windows Vista compatibility, let's hope for a problem free solution on Monday!

I have Windows Vista and, although it initially failed, all I had to do was right click properties - choose compatibility tab and then run as if it was Windows XP Service Pack 2 and all worked well.

I now have the new firmware.

I have a feeling that too much was made of this issue.

They may have wanted to err on the side of caution, bricking a load of customers' phones is never going to be good PR...

Lets hope they sort out the issues with Vista. They have been gathering information logs from peoples Vista OS for the last week or so.

Personally, I hope they don't fix it for Vista and instead spend their time making a portable client that works on all operating systems (including Vista, if you insist on using Vista).
