EQO Mobile for Symbian OS Now Available

EQO’s Mobile VoIP, text messaging and multi-network IM application for Symbian handsets offers users additional features and functionality

London, UK, 29th April, 2007, EQO Communications, today announced the release of EQO Mobile for Symbian OS. EQO is a free mobile application that combines mobile VoIP, text messaging and multi-network IM for everyday handsets.  EQO for Symbian OS is currently available as a free download from EQO’s website at www.EQO.com or the mobile site at m.eqo.com

Incorporating many of the suggestions from Symbian handset users throughout EQO’s Beta trial period, this new version designed for S60, 3rd edition handsets takes advantage of a deeper integration with the Symbian OS. Notable feature enhancements include assimilation with the native contact list, increased performance and improved connection management.

“A big thank you goes out to our users who beta tested our Symbian OS version over the past few months,” says EQO CEO, Bill Tam. “We’ve benefited from valuable user feedback and the strong support of Symbian to build a version that takes advantage of many of the platform capabilities of Symbian OS.”

Building on this relationship, Symbian today announced EQO as one of the first companies to participate in ‘Symbian Ready’, its new certification and validation program, for Freeway, its new networking architecture.  This initiative provides a new architectural platform for supporting and optimising high quality VoIP and multi-media, multi-session applications like EQO.

According to Mike Whittingham, VP, Ecosystem Development at Symbian, “EQO’s participation in our Symbian Ready programme ensured its application works seamlessly with Freeway. By incorporating the voice and data channels, calling, texts and instant messaging are brought together into one application leveraging a great deal of the phone’s functionality in a very efficient fashion.”
