Samsung launch the L870

Published by Steve Litchfield at 16:15 UTC, April 14th 2008

Samsung has shown off a new S60 3rd Edition smartphone at the Tele-Vision fair in Nieuwegein. The L870 is a quad-band slider with GPRS and UMTS support, FM radio, 3 megapixel camera and USB 2.0. The L870 is, notably, only 13.5mm thick, thin for a slider smartphone. Picture below.

Seeing as it's being promoted as only 13mm thin, why would u take a photo where you can't see how thick it is?! :)

From the looks of the photo, it might be sealed into the stand, so the photographer couldn't turn it round.

You're right though, if Samsung make a thin phone they ought to show how thin it is.

They actually tell you how thin it is... 13mm. I want to see the phone since I know what 13mm is (and I live in the USA...).

I would rather see the phone than a side view when the thickness is already discussed...

Um, what happened to the other S60 GPS slider they said they would launch, but I have yet to see: Samsung i560?

The Russian Samsung site appears to list the i560 whereas the UK Samsung site only lists that phone as "upcoming".
I don't know if that means it's available to buy though (perhaps someone can translate?).
Mind you, the i550 which also appears as "upcoming" for the UK but is readily on the German Vodafone site, so you never know!

I like the metal housing, looks like it may last more then 6 months without a case. As above; it would be nice to see its true thickness.
