Now for a few caveats. Google (at the moment) have no SyncML technology in place. So if you want to access your Google Contacts or Calendar via a phone then you have to use the Google mobile web site(s). Plus the GMail Java application, but that's something different again. GooSync is able to read and write data into Google Calendar because Google have made a programmer's interface available, so with a SyncML engine at GooSync HQ they're able to sync with my (in this case S60) smartphone and then sync again (transparently) with Google Calendar.
