Google Contacts makes progress

Published by at

Also part of a whole new Google Mail (on the Web) application, there's a new Google Contacts manager now out. What's now needed, guys, is a SyncML server so that we can sync S60 (and UIQ) smartphone contacts and calendar entries directly to Google's PIM data. At which point, who needs Microsoft Outlook? At all?

Services like Mobical do part of this already, of course, but they don't handle your email as well and they don't give an air of 'we'll be around forever'.

GMail is already the standard for many of us. With SyncML servers in place, I'd be close to leaving a specific PC and Outlook installation behind forever.
