Although the Motorola RIZR Z8 has no Office support at all, Quickoffice has stepped into the breach with viewers for the Z8's brand of UIQ 3, albeit for an extra $20. The Motorola Z8 version of Quickoffice includes support for embedded tables and images. Read on for more.

The previous version of Quickoffice for UIQ phones (shipped with the Sony Ericsson M600 and P990) was version 3.0. The Motorola Z8 version is version 4.0 (it has been cross ported from the version first seen on S60 phones last year) and has a significant number of improvements and new features. Most notable among the new features are support for embedded images and tables in word documents, significantly improved formula support in Excel documents and there is improved support for graphics and images in PowerPoint files. 

A significant effort has also been put into improving the application's user interface which has been optimised for the Z8's non-touchscreen variant of the UIQ software platform.

The $19.95 price is an introductory offer. A version which enables the editing of documents is expected to be made available in due course.
