The all-in N73 update?

Published by Steve Litchfield at 6:57 UTC, June 18th 2007

If you own an N73 then it's worth backing it up and then hooking it up to Nokia Software Update via your PC Suite. According to Ricky Cadden, there's a MAJOR new firmware update available, 4.0723.2.0.1, for many N73 variants. A2DP, FOTA and other handy acronyms(!) are reported now supported. Please comment if you do the update.

This is really great. I really didn't expect to ever be able to use A2DP on my
N73. The music player is also a great touch.
However I heard the new update removes snake! Is there any reason for this?
More importantly, will it be possible to get snake back?

Please tell me I'm not dreaming.
A2DP? WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO :)

Too late, my friend sold that phone because it used to hang so much.

OK, so I thought that if a phone didnīt have A2DP then it wasn't going to ... which has made choices a lot harder as its the one thing I want.

(Don't get me wrong, I don't want an N73, but I DO want an E65, my N80 was nicked, and I am struggling to find something comparable from 3UK!)

I've just updated, and so far its great. When I previously updated my themes ad applications were lost, but this time they all seem to still be there. :)

I can't seem to get it for my N73. How come?

Time ago several N91 users claim for A2DP profile for Nokia N91 and Nokia people said they can't add profiles by firmware actualization...

If they could add A2DP profile using a firmware upgrade for N73, do the same with Nokia N91...

Hows the memory management. Is the fone faster, howmany applications can u multitask with?

At startup with music player and handy taskman running gives me 20.4mb free. Also I don't see any changes in speed whilst navigating through the menu, but installation speed is extremely fast.

the battery life has increased. No hang ups. snake has been removed.

It seems there is quite a major bug in this firmware. I and several other people (using different GPS receivers - see official Nokia support discussion forum) can't connect to their Blutooth GPS receivers anymore. I tried using TomTom or SportsTracker with my SysOnChip but it just won't connect anymore. Will try with Nokia Maps but I don't think the application is the issue here.

Apparently, it works for some people... definitely not for me though.

Does anyone know where to report such issues?

How irritating! after months of trying to find crakcs for blueplayer i ended up selling my n73 for a n91, stupidly as this doesnt have it either! As soon as i heard this i sold my 91 and bought the n73 - again! if its true about snake can you get it back? :( lol but if its true about the batterylife then woohoo! dont see how theyd fix that but nm!

For all those who install the update and miss snakes you can go here h ttp://europe.nokia.com/A4323689 and download, this is a version for N95 but working on N73 as well

Can anyone please give me the list of some of Nokia N73 codes? my N73 code is 0527009 (is this code for Europe or MEA), Model N73-1. And what is the difference between N73-1 and N73-11?

Thanks

--> 1) As I get it some varieties of N73 won't take this new upgrade? Is there an easy way to check if a new N73 is upgradable?

This news is great by the way! I read about old upgrades that didn't seem stable. I wanna buy an affordable music/camera-S60phone with A2DP, and N73 is cheap now from Telia in Sweden (~250€). For that price I can cope with the plastic feeling and notsogod keypad, as long as I can get stereo BT.

The obvious alternative is the 5700, but I'm no twister! 6290 would be great (since I kinda like clams), if it just had stereo BT!!

--> 2) Based on the symbianaut communitys massive experience; would you think there will be an A2DP upgrade for the 6290 as well some time?
