Passion for Widsets

Published by Steve Litchfield at 6:14 UTC, March 2nd 2007

Widsets, java-hosted online widgets that bring you news or filtered web lookups, have a steadily growing following. They're also partly funded by Nokia, fully compatible with every Symbian OS smartphone in the last few years and the always excellent E-series blog has just published an eloquent Widsets write-up.

"With the risk of sounding like a broken record (I have written about Widsets several times before) here is my list of why I really like Widsets - the company behind, stunningly beautiful mobile Widgets."

The fact you originally had to manage Widsets from a PC, had always put me off trying it out ...but that changed a while back & you can now manage everything direct from the phone.

For me, Widsets killer (& much underrated) feature is that you can update all your widset feeds at home over wifi, then go offline & read them at your leisure all day long .- costing you nothing in network data charges.

Compared to some of the ugly 'offline' rss readers I've actually paid for (Headline) Widsets has a gorgeous GUI ...and it's free. Fantastic app.

If you look for a good (and free ;-) Rss software for your phone, try
SubliMobi Rss reader (sublimobi.com).
