[Updated] Flash Lite 2.1 is out!

Thanks to Andrea Trento for an interesting roundup of Flash Lite news - it seems that the latest all-singing, all-dancing release of this multimedia-centred mini-app system is now out and is free - with downloads for all S60 2nd and 3rd Edition smartphones, although you do have to register your details to get the player... If you've an idea for an application, this is now an avenue well worth exploring.

I am trying to find information as to exactly what can be done in Flash Lite as a general development language.
Can it access contacts, calendar etc?
I am looking for a programming language to learn for an application idea, I am looking at Python which seems to do everything I want but being scripted the source is always available so it is no good for commercial ideas. The only other one I know of (seeing as there isn't an OPL for S60V3) is C++ but I don't fancy such a steep learning curve or complicated language. OPL was easy to learn, Python seems easy to learn and I have sone some basic Flash development previously.
Any ideas or comments?

I wouldn't worry about the source thing with Python. Apps even in C++ can be easily 'cracked', as we've seen quite recently 8-(
Honest users won't go looking for source or ways to avoid paying. Dishonest users will never pay anyway, so it's irrelevant how well or how badly you protect your code.....
