The P990i reviewed from a developer's perspective

Published by Steve Litchfield at 9:13 UTC, September 28th 2006

Richard Bloor takes a detailed look at the Sony Ericsson P990i (yes, we have one now, too - Rafe's testing it while in the USA), reviewing it with his developer hat on. Plenty of interesting observations and a positive perspective on this latest UIQ 3 device.

"While the P990i still has a few wrought edges, overall it is a very impressive piece of technology. Both interfaces are comfortably familiar, offering quick and easy access to the power of this device. Its robust set of business applications with the added features of a highly functional camera and well integrated music player and radio, should appeal to both business users and consumers looking for excellent all round performance and features. Interesting contrast to the review from The Register....

Indeed. I can't wait for Rafe's review, as soon as he's back in Blighty and over the jet lag! My own P990i was supposed to have arrived a few days ago, but I'm still waiting..... 8-(

I'm cautiously optimistic - my main preconception is that its multiple interfaces will be confusing.... we'll see. *My* review will be for PDA Essentials magazine and for my Smartphones Show video podcast. Though there will be other, feature articles to follow, no doubt....
