Another Series 60 Language For Steve to Learn??

Forum Nokia are examining the Javascript extension, Ajax, used in many 'active' webpages to create desktop-like applications, for use in the S60 v3 browser (reports The Register). Two years ago, Nokia looked at using Python in S60. Four years before that they were part of the decision to open source OPL for S60 and S80.

Lee Epting pointed out that it would depend on developer reaction to the new web browser, which is based on the sameopen-source components that Apple used in the Safari Browser, but would not be drawn further. Obviously there is a very large latency issue to get over (Ajax being primarily a Web2.0 broadband technology), and this is only a study, not a commission. But with Nokia apparently switching to yet another scripting language I'd expect coders to think seriously about the benefits of starting to learn another langauge, or jump ship to a platform with a consistent message.
