N91 support pages - includes Mac Music Sync

Published by at

As reported by the S60 Multimedia Blog the support pages for the Nokia N91 are now available. The support pages includes the manual and interactive demonstrations to help you get the most out of the phone. Also available is the Nokia Music Manager Plug-in for iTunes on the Mac which allows you to sync music between your N91 and Mac OSX.

The Music Manager Plug-in allows Mac users to use iTunes to transfer music to their N91. This enables Mac users to import music from their CD collection, transfer MP3 and AAC files from their Mac to the N91 and back again (2 way transfer - something which is not possible with the Windows Media sync provided for the N91 on Windows). Play lists can be created on the device and on the N91 and track info such as albums, artists, genre, etc. can be accessed (with Nokia Music Manager plug-in). With the Music Manager Plug-in Nokia is challenging Apple in it's own back yard, with the N91 porviding a compelling mobile music device on both the Mac and Windows platforms (although songs bought from the iTunes music store will not work on the N91).

Other software provided includes the drivers necessary to allow sync between Windows Media Player and the N91. Links to download PC Suite and other PC applications are also provided together with a N91 compatiable version of Lifeblog.

Unfortunately unlike previous version of the manual no mention is made of UPnP support, and UPnP is not available in the current (final/ release) firmware. However it is possible that this may be provided in a later firmware update.
