Another month, some more stunning photos

I just couldn't resist another short link of interest, to the May edition of the Nokia Creative N8 awards, if only because the winners that get picked are nothing short of jaw-droppingly stunning. I've included one of them below, but please click through to the awards themselves for the full rundown and comments by James Burland. And all taken on a phone, remember...!

Macro rose

This macro rose is especially interesting because of the extreme depth-of-field effect - despite my defense of EDoF cameras in all of Nokia's other Symbian^3 phones, arty shots like this just wouldn't be possible with EDoF. So kudos to the N8 yet again.

From James' commentary:

Damian Dinning and his team took quite a risk when they decided to endow the Nokia N8 camera with a natural unprocessed look. At the time virtually every other smartphone manufacturer was trying to make up for the weaknesses of their smartphone camera units by processing almost every aspect of the photograph to within a inch of its life! Colours were boosted, edges enhanced and noise aggressively reduced. Thankfully this was not to be the case with the Nokia N8.
