Angry Birds reach Rio, movie tie-in reaches Symbian

Is it a marketing tie in for the School Holidays in the UK? Is it the third title in a long line of addiction? Is it a pretty smart game in its own right? Angry Birds Rio is all that and more. Now available in the Ovi Store, Rovio’s latest release promises a continuation of the adventures of the feathered fury, as well as showing 21st century marketeers an interesting angle in promoting a motion picture.

The good news is that Rovio have rightly put the game first, and the movie tie-in second. This is everything you could expect in Angry Birds, but with no pigs to kill, here you’re being all superhero and rescuing other birds trapped in cages.

That simple change allows for a re-imagining of the game mechanics, but don’t expect anything new in the game – apart from the levels which should be available in the near future, handily trailed by leaving gaps in the menu that say "available in May, July, October and November" respectively.
