Nokia C6-01 starts shipping

Now this is yet another piece of good news. While the N8 might have been the smartphone for the camera geeks and the C7 is the newest Symbian handset for the fashion conscious, it’s the C6-01 that I think is going to be the most important of the new Symbian devices (yes, even shading the E7). The small and affordable unit has now started shipping from the Nokia depots around the world, so expect it in the retail chain and available to buy at some point early next week.

The C6-01 follows the same hardware conventions as the other handsets in this new family. Running the latest version of Symbian (nee Symbian^3), it packs 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for connectivity, weighs 131 grams packed in a diminutive frame, a 720p HD capable camera (and 8 megapixel image resolution with EDoF) with dual LED flash.

Nokia C6-01And the big selling point, Nokia’s ClearBlack display technology promises vivid colours and better viewing on the capacitive 3.2 inch touch screen. We’ll be taking a closer look at the C6-01 as soon as one arrives here – which shouldn’t be that long now.
